remedy to set the world in order once again. Gazing at her, she immediately forgot the emotional roller coaster that she had been riding for the last half hour. Claire’s entire demeanor bore such a childlike radiance, that Karla was immediately caught up in it. Everything about the way she moved sent waves of beauty in all directions. It didn’t seem as if Claire was even present. As beautiful as she often appeared to Karla, this was not the way she ordinarily moved. Something was working deep within her and it had Claire’s full attention. ‘Whatever it is,’ anticipated Karla, smiling already, ‘this is going to be good!’ Karla was relieved when Claire looked back at her and returned a smile that confirmed Karla’s suspicions. And so she let go the first volley. “Well, are we having a good day!” This was as about as indirect as Karla ever got when she was excited to get the Claire Report. She never failed to query directly into the heart of what Claire was going through, and she had never picked up any book that was a better read than Claire. When she was going through something, it was something. And this was something else! ‘You JUST met someone! Who are you tryin’ to kid?’ Karla tried to contain her thought and find a more composed way of putting it. While it wasn’t at all subdued, by Karla’s standards, it wouldn’t be all that bad either. “And, so does he have, like… – two heads or something?” Under the circumstances, that was about as good as she was able to do. Claire was both amused and touched by her sister’s exasperation. “No, silly,” she calmly replied. “I really don’t know much about him. We just… kind of, ran into each other at the library. He’ll be here later. We’re just going out to go grab something.” Karla heard every word but its tone didn’t reflect the high reading that had just registered on the Claire “Richter Scale”! ‘I know there’s much more to this!’ Karla was not content. “Well he certainly did a number on you!” she finally ...
