spill out onto the blanket. It was then that his guilt set in. He had mated with the one woman who was forbidden to him. He did not regret it, but he knew if anyone found out, he would be banished from the people he called his family. He lowered his head and sighed loudly. Ekta sensed his remorse and kissed his shoulder to reassure him of her love. George lifted himself up and walked toward the stream. Still naked he knelt down and pulled at the grass around his feet. He picked up a rock and skipped it across the water. Ekta lay watching him, feeling sorrowful that he regretted the love they had shared. She knew her calling, but she also knew she loved George. They made good time, but the sun was beginning to set. They were still almost a half a day’s ride from the village when the sun sank below the treeline. George could no longer see the trail and as bad as he regretted it, it was in their best interest to stop for the night. He slowed his horse and dismounted. She understood the emotional battle George was fighting because she was fighting the same battle. She dismounted her horse and spread her blanket a few feet from where he had laid his. He was already lying down with ...
