orders in his most soothing voice. George and Taza stood back watching as Ekta seemed to relax under his directions. It was a rough night. Nantan worked as best as he could, and the baby was born deep into the night. Unfortunately with one life gained, one was lost. During the birth of the child, Ekta lost too much blood, and never regained consciousness. Taza held their son and wept over his wife. George slipped out the door of the hut and wept uncontrollably. The woman that had soothed his dreams, and stole his heart was gone. He felt no need to live another minute. At least in the spirit world they would be together. George was never seen again after the night of Ekta’s death and the birth of her son. Legend tells how he was taken by the spirit horse to take care of Ekta until she could be rejoined with Taza. Other stories tell how he was ashamed of disgracing the name of Nantan and his people. The latter seemed to be the truth, especially when Ekta’s son grew up as a handsome, blonde haired, blue eyed Apache.
