    her older sister were smoking grass. They offered me some, but I turned them down. When I got home, I found that they had slipped a joint into my purse. I forgot about it until just now. " "Do you still have it?" "Yeah, it's up in my bedroom in my purse. I thought since this is a night of firsts, it might be interesting to give it a try." Jim sat quietly for a minute, "OK, what the hell. I guess I've been curious about it for a while too. Go get the joint, and I'll get us a fresh bottle of wine." He watched her as she got up and padded, naked, across the room and around the corner into the hall. Then, he rose from the couch and made his way into the kitchen. He knew there was a bottle of German white wine in the fridge. He decided that it might be nice to try it after the acidic red they had started with. He was new to drinking wine, but he knew that the whites were supposed to be milder and taste better than the red wines. He opened the fridge and took out an ice cold bottle of white wine. Then, deciding that this was a very special evening, he went to the crystal cabinet and took down two carved crystal wine glasses. He pulled the cork on the wine bottle and, picking up the glasses, walked back into the living room. When he got there, Susan was back on the couch. She was kneeling, her legs tucked under her, leaning over the table. She had brought an ashtray in from the hall and was putting the joint and a book of matches in the middle of it.     on her heels and smiled at Jim. He sat down next to her and poured some wine into the two glasses. He handed her one and he took the other. Holding his glass out towards his stepsister, he toasted, "To us, and to an evening of more wonderful discoveries." Smiling, Susan clinked her glass against her stepbrother's and took a small sip of wine. Jim looked at the joint sitting in the middle of the ashtray. "It's a lot bigger than I expected. I stole a pack of Dad's cigarettes once and Bill and I went down to the cemetery and smoked them. They were much smaller than that thing." "I didn't know that you smoked?" "I don't. I just did it that once, to try it. It tasted awful and it made me sick. I never did it again." Susan sat back, sipping from the wine glass. "I have never tried any kind of smoking. Cheryl said that this is nothing like smoking cigarettes. She said that it doesn't taste bad and it doesn't make you sick at all. When she and her sister were smoking, it looked pretty easy. They certainly were enjoying themselves." Jim picked up the joint, "Well, shall we try it?" Susan nodded her consent and squeezed his arm. He held the joint to his mouth and struck a match.
