When she came running back the beach, Sandy was waving her arms and gasping for air. She had, after all, run a fairly long distance. Sherry waved back. "No fish?" she asked, disappointed. "Sherry, listen, don't light that fire. There's something going on, don't light it yet!" "Slow down, honey, take a breath you're scaring me." She was truly concerned. "What the heck's going on?" Catching her breath, she looked behind her knowing that she had left foot prints all the way back to their camp. "There are some guys over there behind that big bunch of rocks we climbed earlier. They're burying something and I don't think it's a treasure chest." Sandy looked uncharacteristically shaken. "We need to find somewhere out of sight where they can't follow us." She was calming down then and more focused on the situation. "My foot prints will lead them to us. If they leave, we're okay, but if not, I don't want them finding us." Her main concern was Sherry's safety. Sandy was very protective of her, and hadn't even considered the danger she may encounter. "I can try and erase our tracks, but we can't stay here." They still had a problem. "What about the plane?" Sherry asked, gesturing at the wreckage. "We can't move it, it's not like we can just pick it up and take it with us." The look on her face was concerned and confused. "Yeah, true," Sandy agreed, thoughtfully. She knew that it would prove that the owner of those prints was still on the island. "Maybe if we just push it out a bit, the ...
surf will take it out to sea. It gets pretty deep right there, so hopefully it'll sink. That's all I've got." They both turned and looked at the mangled metal, and began to walk over to it. The sun was now more in the western part of the sky, but it couldn't be more than three PM. This was going to be a difficult task that might not even work. Remembering that she had rope, Sandy opened the back door and pulled it out of the cargo bin. "Got anything to eat in there?" Sherry asked, half kidding, half serious. "I wish." She gave Sherry one end of the rope and held the other. "Okay, we're going to use leverage to pull this out to the water. You go over there and when I say 'pull', I want you to pull it with all your might." Sandy walked off to the side, and behind the plane, while Sherry went to the other side, just behind it. "Pull!" Sandy said just loud enough for Sherry to hear her. Both tugged as hard as they could, and it began to move sideways towards Sandy. It was working! They continued to pull, until the waves picked it up; floating it out a enough for it sink into the water. "Okay, you can let your end go now, babe. I'll reel it in." Sandy dug her feet into the sand, pulling it in and trying to roll it up as she went. Sherry stood there as the waves washed over her feet, watching her struggle with the rope for a minute as a small smile crept across her face. She knew how stubborn her girlfriend was, and decided to help her anyway. "It's getting dark and we need to find ...
