“Time!” he yelled. Like clockwork, the four of them were assembled. Harry was at the front. Outside the cops were already out of their vehicle. He wanted to go back and grab the manager as a shield but there was no time. There were a couple of customers standing close by; two elderly men and a dark-haired girl. He looked at the girl. Her eyes flicked away hurriedly. Young. The right edge of beautiful. Enough discomfort to make her interesting. There was a soft expression of regret on her face. Maybe someone else would do better. But Lucas and the others were pushing him forward. No time. He gestured her forward. “Let’s go.” She didn’t protest. Her eyes went from his face to the Colt and back again. She started walking and he followed closely. The five of them headed out of the bank. Outside, two uniformed officers were facing them. In the distance, more cop cars were racing towards them, getting nearer every second. Harry grabbed the girl’s arm pulling her closer to him. The cops had their guns ready but didn’t dare to shoot in fear of hitting the wrong person. “Isabella! I need my money.” He was talking to Harry but looking at the gun. Harry ignored him and kept walking. The rest of the cops were pulling up. Brakes squealed, engines stalled. He broke into a half-run and finally made it to the car. He tossed Lucas his bag of money. The girl was shoved into the passenger seat. Once the doors were slammed shut, the car jerked forward and roared away, picking up speed as it hurtled down the road. The disorganized cop cars didn’t have a chance. In the car’s mirrors, Harry watched them blocking each other off in their haste to follow. He smiled and pressed his foot down harder. Quick. Easy. Nobody got hurt. Job done perfectly. Then Lucas piped up from the backseat. “What’s the game, Harry? You pick up a lady and think you’re gonna get two shares now?” Harry forced a laugh. He glanced at the girl. She was holding her purse tightly in her lap, her eyes fixed on the road ahead. “Isabella, right?” She looked at him. Cleared her throat. “That’s right.” “Was that your husband back there?” “No. He’s my brother.” “You like him?” She looked at him. Looked out at the road ahead. “What do you care?” Harry shrugged. “You didn’t seem too upset about him.” “Why would I be? I’m the one who got kidnapped, not him.” In the back seat, Sean, Carlo and Lucas were sorting through the cash with intent focus, ...
