Driving in the back seat of the car listening to music, Allana tried to keep the thoughts out of her head. It was hard though, they were bouncing around inside her skull making too much noise. Too loud that the blaring music couldn’t cover it up. She groaned and glared outside the window. Who knew having best friends would be so hard? she asked herself. She kept listening to music but soon it faded and her thoughts of Kai surfaced again. She winced remembering his wounded eyes and disappointed voice. Allana was still reminiscing on this when she saw the familiar campus go past her window. She immediately perked up and looked around. She couldn’t believe that she was here where she had been planning to go since seeing it online in junior year of high school. Her dad drove into the parking lot and before he even turned off the car, she was out trying to grab my bags from the back. She pulled out many suitcases and left them on the asphalt parking lot. Her dad, Richard, helped to take out the bigger things that were too heavy or big. Soon they had all of the bags and things out of her car. Allana turned to them and smiled. She grunted and shifted one of her boxes on her hip. Just then, she felt the box move away. She reacted instinctively thinking that it was falling and tried to catch it. She looked down at the box and saw that someone was holding it. She followed the large hands up to muscular arms and finally to the guy's face. It was 'Dimples' from her run a few days before. She pushed the hair away that had fallen in her face. “Hey,” he said, “You’re the jogging girl.” She nodded. “It seemed that you needed some help with your stuff. I’ll hold this when you get the door open,” he added. “Yeah, I am. I’m more careful on running now,” she said, “Darn these pesky keys,” she said with a laugh that probably sounded nervous. She turned to the door and made a face at what she had just said. Pesky keys? Nice, she thought to herself. She unlocked the door and swung it open. She faced the guy again and smiled at him. “Thanks for the help. Again. I should be good now,” she ...
