    “Please, we promise to take care of it. We will walk him and feed him, you won’t have to do anything” I begged my folks as I asked for a dog. My younger b*****r was on my side saying that he would help in all the chores connected with the dog. “Think of the protection that he would give us” he told our parents. Mom and dad smiled at us and told us that they would think about it. My name is Jennifer but all my friends call me Jen.     so excited that we couldn’t finish supper and asked to be excused to go to pick a name for our dog. Joel and I went into the f****y room with a pen and paper in hand to write down all the names that we could think of. After about an hour we agreed on the name of Kong for our dog’s name. We went to tell mom and dad our choice. They laughed at the name asking us if we are going to use that name if it is a small dog. Joel told them no matter what the dog is going to be called Kong. Saturday finally arrived and Joel and I were in the car with mom and dad heading for the pound. Joel and I ran from the car as soon as it stopped in the parking lot. We pushed open the door and told the lady behind the counter that we wanted a dog. She giggled at our excitement and led us back to the cages. We walked slowly down the aisle looking at all the dogs that were available. Joel and I stopped in front of a cage that had a beautiful Golden Retriever inside. We look at each other in shock as we looked at the name on the cage. Printed in bold letters was the name Kong. The lady told us that his owner had died and his c***dren couldn’t take the dog with them. I told dad it must be fate that we picked that name and a dog was here with that same name. Joel and I told mom and dad that this was the dog that we wanted. Dad asked all the usual questions about the dog and then we loaded him in the car.
