Elizabeth looked exasperated and mom called out to Dad, “C’mon Den. Let’s let them get settled.” Dad finished saying something and then joined us. We started back down the driveway when dad stopped and patted the pocket on his shirt. “Oh shit!” he said and started back up their driveway catching Isaiah just before he closed the door. “You guys smoke?” he asked. “Of course.” Isaiah responded. Daddy took the pack of smokes out of his pocket and hucked it to him like a Frisbee. The pack spun through the air and bounced off Isaiah’s clumsy fingers when he tried to catch it. The man blushed and bent over to pick it up. He shook it, then pried open the top of the box with his thumb. He smiled big and said, “Thanks Man!” Daddy just nodded and re-joined us and we went home.
