    Well it was a whole weekend before I next heard from her she said that jack had suffered another massive stroke, he had passed away and she asked me to attend his funeral. A couple of days later she again rang and gave me time and place, I promised to attend, the wife being away with her s****r in Middlesbrough for the week it was an easy decision to make, not that I would not have gone anyway. On the day it was the sort of day when the rain, though light soon had you wetter than if you had been through a sheep dip, grey clouds filled the sky, and it was cold as a fridge, we were glad it was a cremation and not a graveside we stood at. We sat silently staring at the fire, me not knowing quite what to say, she tears running down her face, letting her grief show for the first time that day having held it all together for as long as she had been able. Soon cried out, she quietly said she wanted to thank me for making Jacks day when I had last visited as he had long wanted to see the dog inflict some real pain on her body. She said and that “after I had left Jack had awoken and had asked her to stand in the light for him so that he could examine the millions of tiny wounds,” she explained that his joy was unconfined when he touched her bruised and punctured body. They had dropped off to sl**p cuddled down together in his big bed, he happily Satisfied with her discomfort, his finger deep in her body. His joy must have been just too much as about an hour had past when she suddenly felt his finger twitch, then he groaned and they both drifted off back to sl**p, her thinking he was having a dream! He never moved again. When she awoke she immediately knew in her heart of hearts he was gone and she had difficulty removing his cold stiff finger before dressing to cover her damaged body then calling the doctor.
