favourite chair, tears coursing down his tanned face unashamedly sobbing pitifully. She threw her arms around him, kissing him, and shushing him, soothing him like the c***d they never had, coaxing him back to her from the dark place he had been since the early hours. Through sobs he slowly explained that he felt he could not live through this tragedy again, without her his soul-mate he could never have coped with her mother`s passing that first time once was well enough. He knew he was much older than her he said and he had reached a time when he felt without her he just did not want to go on. In reply she kissed him told him that she had a time to live yet and that she wanted to do just that, she promised that she would think of something but that she needed him to be strong for her, normality was just one of the things she knew she would need to keep her sanity over the coming weeks. He regarded her with a soft and quizzical eye as she went on to say she had “perhaps a couple of months of normal or near normal life,” he began to speak but she held up her hand in a quest for silence “time to start on our bucket list`s, we have the money we have the time, if only just!” “Let`s do it lets live the dream, give that job of yours the push, lets live the life we always dreamed, now before it`s too late then when it`s my time let me take a long swim, together if you can`t face the future alone, but let`s just do something, lets live if only for a brief while like mayflies.” The ...

He shook his head, then said in his own quiet way that “did she understand he could not go on without her? If they were to do it he smiled “they would however need to think of `some other way to go together’” then to her strange questioning look he explained he was still not able to swim a stroke” to which she nodded her assent, with a broad smile. He went on that “her bucket list idea and the loss of the job he would be happy with and they had a bit of money that should last if we are careful but they would need to talk a lot more yet. I`m not making ...
