I was feeling a little down today. Tom, my husband, had to fly to San Francisco for a couple days for work. I was going to be home by myself Friday and Saturday night. It was 4:00 p.m. and Tom was getting ready to head out. He was a little bummed he had to go. Tom stood in the front hall gathering his wallet and phone. “You got everything babe?” I asked. “Yeah I got everything. I will text you when I get their O.K?” Tom said sadly. “I’m gonna miss you baby.” I replied. I reached out and wrapped my arms around Tom. I really was going to miss him. Tom hugged me tightly and we gave each other a deep kiss. Tom grabbed his bags and headed out to a waiting cab. I stood in the doorway watching as he entered the cab. Tom looked out the window and blew me a kiss. I waved and blew a kiss back to him. I went back inside and closed the door behind me. I sat down in the living-room, picked up the T.V. remote and looked for something to watch. I scrolled through the guide and found nothing but the local news. I sat quietly watching T.V. It had only been about fifteen minutes but I was already missing my husband. As I sat, watching T.V. I picked up my phone and checked out my Facebook page. My phone beeped with a text message. We partied hard together. Shortly after my thirtieth birthday Kayla had moved away from Los Angeles and moved to Austin, Texas. Kayla had met a nice guy named Jim. Jim treated her pretty well. Not like the other assholes she dated. It had been about a year since I’ve seen my friend. I was always excited to talk to Kayla. No matter how much time passed since we last spoke we always picked up right where we left off. I opened up my text message and it read. Hey girly, what are you doing? Can you talk? I replied with a quick yes. A minute later my cell rang. “Hello girl,” I answered. I spoke to Kayla with excitement. “How’s things going?” I asked. “Funny you ask, I’m driving over to your house right now,” Kayla responded. “Really, Where are you?” I said in almost a high pitch sound. “I just left my parents house and thought I would surprise you.” “Okay, I’m here, it’s just me. Come on in when you get here.” Kayla replied saying “see you soon.” I sprung from the couch and went to the mirror in the restroom. I was excited to see my friend. I had my hair pulled back into a ponytail. I was wearing gray workout pants and a white tank top. I looked decent; but then again Kayla has seen me look a lot worse. I re-entered the living-room and anxiously waited for Kayla. I racked my brain trying to ...
