out to hold a person's legs. It wasn't so much the frame or it's shape that made it apparent it was designed to hold a person. It was the things attached to it. The heavy straps I was getting used to seeing were absent from this item. Instead it had rigid bands or cuffs. They were hinged on one side to open and were held closed by latches similar to those used on inline skates and ski boots. The were made of shiny metal and padded on the inside. There were 17 of these cuffs, four on each side on the outside of the frame at the top part for their arms. There was also a large one between the two outside bars of the frame for their torso The two bars running down and out to the sides that I assumed were for legs also had four cuffs on each. At the upper end, just below the headrest was two piece arrangement that would hold the occupants shoulders and upper chest. It had a front and back half and the same type clamps joined them. Large openings were placed for access to the occupants breasts. It came up over the shoulders and the same clamps would hold it closed there. It appeared to be made of a heavy fiberglass or plastic. Underneath this thing was a lot of machinery. I recognized an air compressor and two pumps of some kind. One appeared to be a vacuum pump. Alongside the whole thing was a cart with even more equipment piled on it. I could see at least 3 devices that looked like pneumatic cylinders attached to frameworks of some kind. Mounted at the end of the actuating shaft ...
of each there was a dildo. There was even more piled on the cart I couldn't identify. It was difficult to drag my gaze away this fascinating piece of equipment but I continued my visual tour of the room. There was an examining table identical to the one I had been strapped to in the doctor's office a few hours earlier. That was no surprise. There were two wheeled carts at the foot of the Iron Lung. One cart held a rectangular box with many controls and gauges on the front that was about 18&#034 square. It was marked &#034Bennett Positive Pressure Respirator&#034 and had a hose attached that ran to what looked like a gas mask with round eye pieces and many straps that would hold it tightly to someone's head. The other held another box about two feet square, again with many dials and controls all over one side. That box was marked &#034Thompson Multivent&#034 A corrugated hose about the size of a vacuum cleaner hose ran from the box to the center of a gray plastic shell resting on the lower shelf. The shell looked like it would cover a person's chest and abdomen. The edges had wide rubber seals and there were straps that looked like they would wrap around the person and hold it in place. I recognized this as a portable Iron Lung or chest respirator. There was a wheeled hospital gurney along one wall and an electric wheelchair that looked identical to the one I was strapped in. The gurney and wheelchair both had a generous supply of the padded leather straps. Standing up against ...
