She had the entire garage floor covered with the week’s trash. ‘It’s amazing how much trash one adult and an eight year old can create in such a short period of time’, she thought. Pam England had lost the receipt for her new blender, and it had stopped working, now she wanted to return it. Without the receipt she wouldn’t be able to ask for a refund or even find anyone to talk to her….so much for friendly personal service. Fortunately for her all the actual garbage went into the garbage disposal. ‘Wonderful invention the garbage disposal,’ she smiled as she combed through the trash, ‘really wonderful’ she mused with an actual grateful smile. One by one she went through the hundreds of worthless pieces of paper. Dozens of advertisements, all kinds of inserts, store receipts, Tommy homework computer rejects and who knew what else, but no receipt. Almost finished and very discouraged she un-crumpled another piece of paper. “What in the world is this?” she said aloud. She un-folded the torn paper, it was obviously a torn sheet of computer paper; it was covered with hand written numbers and words that made no sense. A moment later, very close to where she had found the first piece of paper she found a second. Flattening them out and pushing the torn pieces together it was clear that she had only half the sheet…’Damn,’ she thought more curious by the second.
