Excited by a snake

When he was younger my son kept several snakes and he would be asked to give talks about them and to take some of his collection to show. One year he was asked to take a couple of the snakes to show at the local annual agricultural event and I went with him to transport the vivariums. We were allocated a place at the back of a large marquee and behind us was a screened off area where all the people from the various stalls in the tent could put their coats and boxes etc. We had a display of pictures and a vivarium on a table and visitors came and enquired about snakes and could hold a Royal Python or a Grey Rat Snake. Visitors were asked to hold out both hands and my son would place the python onto their hands. The Royal Python is one of the gentlest creatures and moves very slowly and the one that was least likely to frighten anybody. One of the visitors was a lady in her thirties who held the python for a short time. She stood with her hands out and the snake was placed on her palms. I noticed that after a few seconds her face went brilliant red and she started biting on her bottom lip. The snake was then passed on to the next visitor and she went on to look at the other stalls . About 30 minutes later the lady returned when the grey rat snake had been brought out . As before she was given the snake but this time was told to gently close her hand around it as it moved much faster than the Royal Python.
