later, Elena decided that she would spend more of her year with me in the city, and that she would travel home alone to check on the state of affairs in her home life. Elena returned to me just in time, a few days before the outbreak of war, and moved in with me, for all intents and purpose as my house-mate so as to not arouse suspicion with those who would not approve our relationship. She found a job and went from strength to strength with her English, and soon found favour as a translator during the war. Life was set to be good for us both, until after the war had finished.
