Dark Triad was not an official disorder at that time so his mother was unaware or, more likely, unwilling to accept that Jacob had hit the trifecta. She chose, instead to treat the symptoms with drugs which kept him manageable through his preteen years. Jacob’s underlying mental issues coupled with hormonal rage during puberty resulted in predatory sexual activity that forced his mother to admit to herself he needed more help. Still unwilling to have him labeled she began treating him as an unofficial patient continuing the drugs and starting counseling sessions. JJ remained in the military academy until age 18 when he graduated and attended the local college. He joined the local army reserve unit and deployed to Iraq shortly before his junior year. JJ would remain in Iraq/ Afghanistan for 4 years, he learned over the years to fake emotion and be very cautious of his actions but found a new freedom there. More importantly his violent tendencies were not only accepted but looked upon favorably. JJ wasn’t the model soldier but used deceit, manipulation, blackmail or violence to appear to be. The other protagonist is Kayla Clery, she’s the middle child of three sisters. Her father dying during the first ...
