Zee swung his leg around in a wide arc, before doing a short leap straight up. The images projected into his mind showed the attacker in front of him going down, while his leap took him over the strike of the man behind him. He spun his body as he went down, an open-hand attack on the second man. As number two blocked, Zee had time to admire Eve’s imagination. Every sparring session was a little different, a chance for him to hone his skills, exercise his body, and keep kim from getting bored. Today he was fighting against a trio of burly men wearing outfits from Lord Ozai’s Fire Nation. Yesterday he’d gone up against a couple of surly templars from the era of Ezio Auditore. The day before that, he’d gone a few rounds against a pair of busty pirate girls. Zee grinned. That had been a good session. His mirth cost him, as the red-clad soldier took advantage of his distraction. Zee was still regaining his center when the man’s leg took him in the gut, staggering him back. Intellectually he knew he was alone in his apartment, that no one could harm him. Still, he staggered back with pain radiating from his abdomen. The three glanced at each other, readying, then came at him as one. Zee ...

The “bodies” of his opponents lay on the floor, and he nodded towards the ceiling. “Nice work, lady. Those three were tough.” “They were calculated to give you a sufficient challenge without considerably straining you. And you’re welcome. You liked the outfits?” Eve’s voice “echoed” through the apartment, though Zee knew anyone listening at the door would only have heard his side of the conversation. “I did! That Avatar stuff is great. How about some Kyoshi warriors some day?” He laughed. “Maybe do some alterations to their outfits?” Zee wiped at his forehead, slick with sweat. Wearing only a pair of training shorts, the sheen continued down the back of his head onto his chest and back. The AI sighed, which was a neat trick without any lungs. “Correct me if I say something that is false. You have been effectively reincarnated.” “True.” Zee smiled. It still seemed so unreal. He headed for the bathroom, stretching his mildly aching muscles as he did. “I am an advanced synthetic organism. I live inside your skull and make you one of the smartest people on the planet.” She continued. “You’re braggy for an AI. But true.” He smiled again. He’d only been with Eve for a few months now, but he was already comfortable saying he loved her. “Pah, you’re lucky to have me. Your body is in peak physical fitness for someone just eighteen ...
