Sarah. She always had a nice demeanour about her, thought Candice. Chubby, but cheerful, she reflected, smiling to herself. “Well, I was beginning to have doubts as to whether you’d be here, so I guess we are quits,” retorted Candice, smiling. “Candy, you know I’ve been looking forward to this for weeks, how could you ever doubt. It will be great to get away for a few days. I’m looking forward to meeting your friend.” Not as half as much as Clive is of meeting you! thought Candice. “Well, I imagine it would do you good to take a break and get out, and meet new people,” said Candice averting her eyes. Sarah picked up her bag, and they walked off together toward Piccadilly Circus tube as they headed for Gatwick and their flight to Newquay in Cornwall. There was the usual throng of traffic in and around London of that time of day. The inevitable evenings rush hour started earlier as additional people trying to escape for, what promised to be a glorious weekend weather-wise. Candice was thankful that all they had to negotiate lay either below ground, or above ground on rails, and twenty-thousand feet up in the air. “You know—” said Candice when they were sitting on the tube hurtling toward Victoria, “It will only take seventy-five minutes to fly to Cornwall—seventy-five minutes! Once they were out of the tube and travelling on the Gatwick Express train, Sarah was away with the fairies. She gazed out, entranced as the red-bricked buildings of London gave way to fields of ripening Barley and Corn. In, what felt like no time at all they were negotiating their seat belts as they prepared for take-off. Candice was more relaxed because the next time they would step out onto terra firma they would be in deepest Cornwall. Even though she’d never met him she knew Clive well enough to know that he was one of a rare breed of ‘true gents’ left. She was confident that he would treat Sarah with the utmost respect, and would always consider her feelings before his. The object of the weekend? Why, to finally meet Clive and have great sex with him, of course. Secretly, she wanted to encourage Sarah toward her own sense of liberation. She wanted her to consider women as a serious alternative, (or rather she was selfishly hoping to break her in and have her all to herself in the long run). She wasn’t sure, but she thought that her previous boyfriend was Sarah’s first. She considered it would help her to know how a caring man behaves. That was the selfless bit of her contribution coming through. Candice knew Clive to be a feeling man and wondered in what way it would surface in their lovemaking. ...
