Splashing some cold water on his face and washing his hands, he returned. Little Deer had his breakfast served up on a tin plate and his shirt and other clothes ready for him. He smiled at her helpfulness and sat down as she handed him the plate of food. She sat down on the ground next to him waiting for him to finish and as soon as he had gotten the last few morsels of food in his mouth, she took the plate and spoon from him going down to the river to wash them and upon returning to the camp, putting them away in the pack one of the horses carried. Travis began busying himself with breaking camp and putting things away to start the day's ride. The last thing he needed to do was put the campfire out and after he had done that, he was ready to go. Little Deer took her place walking behind him. Travis turned around and saw her ready to follow. He motioned for her to come up and he took her arm, swinging her up onto the horse behind him. She smiled and hung on around his waist, holding him close and grateful she didn't have to do anymore walking this day. The pair made good time that day and were very close to where they would eventually settle down. But they had one more night to camp, and they were both pretty tired from the day's ride.
