After a few hours, we’d made great progress, so we decided to take a short break for lunch and eat the leftover pizza from yesterday. After lunch we got back to unpacking. We continued to chat about nothing in particular, and by five o’clock, we were finished. My apartment now looked totally habitable. The shelves were organized with books, magazines, and movies. The sitting room furniture was arranged so that it would allow us to talk just as easily as watch movies. The spare bedroom was used for storage as well as computer usage. I had a desk set up to be used for work just as much as play. The master bedroom and bathroom were now organized as well as could be. All in all, it was really nice for a first pad. It was home. “Finally,” Sophie groaned as she collapsed on the couch. “We’re finally finished!” “You’re tired already?” Abbie teased. “We still have a metric crap-ton of liquor to take care of tonight.” She pointed at the bottles that we’d arranged on the table. This evening was going to be fun, that’s for sure. Abbie had purchased more alcohol than we normally went through in a handful of parties. All for a single housewarming party. “And how much is a ‘metric crap-ton?” Clara asked as she wound her arm around my waist. Otherwise we’ll all pass out before we can even make a dent.” I looked at each of them in turn as I said. “Besides, I have to take three ladies out to dinner to thank them for helping me move into my new place.” Clara rested her head on my shoulder as she asked, “Where are we going?” “That nice Italian place called Edwardo’s.” “Jesus, that place is expensive!” Abbie said in shock. “Well, you three helped me move in, and that’s definitely worth it. Besides,” I reasoned, “it’s a lot cheaper if you drink water rather than wine.” “What?” Sophie exclaimed. “Why can’t we have any alcohol with supper?” I raised my eyebrows incredulously and made a point to look at the table almost covered in booze. “Seriously?” I asked. "Fair point," she admitted. “Um, Felix," Clara said softly. "We’re not really dressed for any place that expensive.” “It’s okay. Edwardo’s is really dark and most of the tables can be closed off by curtains,” I pointed out. “So let’s go. I’m the chauffeur by the way,” I added with a wink. “Shotgun,” Abbie called. I just shook my head, “Nope, my girlfriend gets the front seat.” After a short bit of grumbling, the three girls walked out the door with me. Edwardo’s wasn’t that far away, but it did take a few minutes to find a place to park. While it’s true we were underdressed for the ...
