    when we got through the line in minutes. We grabbed our bags and quickly got through customs. As we stepped through the door into the main part of the terminal, I gathered the two girls to me and said, “Welcome to America!” They were so excited and happy that they were crying. I called my parents and asked them to pick us up at the airport. They wanted to know about the “us”, but I told them it was a surprise. I sat with the girls on the bench by the car pickup and told them that Babushka and Dyedushka (Grandma and Grandpa) were on the way to pick us up. They both squealed and started jumping around. Half an hour later they were still bouncing about when my parents pulled up in their SUV.     we get over to my place and get the girls to bed, then I can tell the tale.” I dozed off myself then. We got back to my townhouse where my mom woke me up and then I got the girls awake enough to go into the house and then pass out on my bed. I met with my parents down in the living room. “Okay, here goes...” I started. I told them how well the meeting with Olga and Irena had gone. They knew that I was meeting them so that wasn’t a big surprise. I mentioned that the twins were Irena’s best friends and that they were orphans. I said, “So... In for a penny, in for a pound, I guess. I adopted them.” My dad started laughing so hard that he was holding his sides. My mom gave him a dirty look and said, “From nothing to a wife and three k**s overnight. I sure hope you know what you are doing.” We talked for a while, I mentioned that the adoption was already final, that the girls were de-facto U.S. Citizens and that they really were the girls’ grandparents. I told my mom that we would be over tomorrow and that everyone could get to know everyone else. I asked her to invite my s****r over too. After they left I headed up to my room.
