When my plane landed at Proserpine Airport I was full of emotion. I'd waited patiently for this day to arrive for almost four months. The thought of spending a week with my father and brother, sailing the Whitsunday Islands was amazing. Dad had been away for almost three years working in Dubai and I hadn’t seen my brother David for twelve months or more. I really was looking forward to this.I emerged from the arrival lounge, and there was dad with a huge smile on his face, waving to me. I ran to him and we embraced and hugged, it was wonderful to see him. He hadn’t changed at all, still as handsome as ever I thought to myself. Daddy and I had always had a special relationship, in fact I always felt my mother was jealous of our bond. After our greeting, he grabbed my bag and took it out to the hire car. On the way to the boat, I told him how great it was to see him again after so long, and how much I was looking forward to spending time with two of my favourite people.Dad said, "Oh sorry sweetheart I meant to tell you, David called yesterday to say he was snowed under at work and couldn’t make it. He asked me to apologise and said he'd call you later.""What a bummer," I said, "I was so looking forward to seeing him again.""Hey don't worry Baby, we'll have a great time."I was disappointed but knew it would be fun, just the two of us.We arrived at the Marina and daddy carried my bag to the boat, which turned out to be a near new forty two foot sloop. Daddy was doing some last minute preparations and was almost ready to go.Starting the engine, we cast off into a cloudless blue sky. The weather was perfect with a light breeze and the water a fabulous turquoise blue."We're going to head to an island about three hours from here Sarah," he said, "would you mind helping me get the mainsail up please darling?"We raised the mainsail, but not long after the wind shifted and came in directly on the bow, so we decided to drop the sail and motor to save time.I could see from his expression daddy was excited to see me, and I just knew this was going to be a very special holiday. An hour or so later, daddy pointed to an island in the distance and said, "If I'm reading this chart correctly, that little island up ahead is our destination for tonight."When we arrived we motored around the island looking for a sheltered location for the night. We discovered a delightful little bay with a palm fringed white sandy beach, so we dropped anchor. The water ...
