    the property led into a small strip of park. It gave her a feeling of being out in a rural area, like back home in Idaho, even though it was just an illusion. They had a pool and Haden had been itching to lay out and get a little sun. The weather had been hot and overcast and she'd been busy with house projects for days. So when she finally felt caught up on things, she was thrilled to throw on a bikini and lounge by the water for a bit. She brought her iPod out with her and a cheap romance novel she'd been sitting on for weeks and just let the warmth of New Orleans pour over her skin. Haden, in a panic, fell sideways out of her lounge chair and right into the pool. She yelped and by the time she stood in the water the dog was bounding off into the foliage at the end of her backyard. A moment later she heard on the other side of the fence at the house to their right. She splashed at the water in a fit of frustration.     short and wooden and only came to her waist. Over the fence she could see into her neighbor's property. This other house was more modern, larger, much more expensive. The pool was bigger, deeper. A man was cleaning the pool, ear buds in his ears. He was wearing shorts and flip flops and a tank top. Haden saw the dog sniffing through the bushes near him. “Excuse me!” She called out. No reply. “Excuse me! Pool guy!” He finally noticed and pulled out an ear plug. “Hey. How you doin'?” He stopped cleaning momentarily. “I'm soaked, actually. Can you please tell the people who live here to keep their dog contained in their yard. That thing scared the heck out of me!” He smiled. “Aww. Sorry 'bout that. He don't bite though.” She scowled. “I don't care if he bites or not. Tell them to keep him off my property. There are leash laws for a reason.” She turned and headed inside, full of frustration and irritation. She strode through the house toward the upstairs bathroom, with an itch inside of her and she wasn't sure of the source. She slipped off her thong and her top and stepped into the hot shower to wash away the chlorine smell of the pool. As she soaped herself down, she found that her fingers kept drifting down to the thick patch of blonde hair between her legs.
