The storm actually began on Sunday as light snow, but the weathermen said that today would be bad. I had assumed that my boys would be with me today, so I wanted to run some errands and do a little shopping before the grocery stores got busy. The snow banks in parking lots are as high as fifteen feet. It's difficult to see what's coming. Because it's so cold and there's no place to put all of the snow, the parking lots are very slippery. When I woke up, I was aggravated by the forecast. I had planned on working, but one of the girls at the spa I run said that she'd work for me. I decided that I'd get everything done early, then go home and relax. After I woke up, I didn't even take a shower. I threw on sweats, a thick sweatshirt, my boots and a winter coat and out the door I went. When I pulled into the parking lot, this girl in a little white car pulled out in front of me. I noticed that she was on the phone, and was going quite fast. Suddenly, I noticed a red car stick his nose out between snow piles. She saw him too late, as she hit the brakes she slid into him so hard that she pushed him into the snowbank. I stopped to check on both of them. After realizing that they were both uninjured, I began speaking to them. The guy, who's name was Tom, asked me if I could stay and speak to police when they came. I went to the pharmacy, and then the supermarket to get a few things. The market was mobbed and there were long lines at the registers. I decided just to get the basics. When I left, about thirty minutes later, I was in an even worse mood. As I was leaving, I noticed that the accident scene was cleaned up. The snow had begun to fall at a steady pace and I was anxious to get home. Just as I was about to pull into the street, I noticed Tom standing in front of the coffee shop talking on his cell phone, he seemed upset. I pulled over ask him what was wrong. He told me that he was waiting for a cab because he couldn't find anyone to take him to the rental car office. "Hop in, I'll take you," I said. "I don't want to be an inconvenience," he replied. "Not at all," I said. "Come in out of the cold." When he got in he was still on phone for a few minutes, then hung up and was quiet. I introduced myself, then asked him what was wrong, he said that the cab company told him that it would be an hour before the could come get him. They were busy due to the weather. He also said that the rental car company only has a few cars left, and wouldn't negotiate on the price. After listening to what the poor guy had been through, I wondered why I was in a bad mood. The rental car company was in the next town, about fifteen ...
